Lemon Myrtle

Backhousia citriodora

A small to medium tree with strong lemon scented foliage. It bears profuse white flowers in summer. Grows 5m in height and 5m in width.

Essential oil from the leaves provides an exquisite lemon scent. Leaves are comonnly used to make very fine tea and add beautiful flavour to dishes, especially fish.

Cultural notes:

Likes a sunny position or partially shaded. Prefers a rich, well composted soil. Slightly frost tender when plants are small.
