Fast growing vigorous shrub that produces edible flowers and leaves. Harvest the calyces (flower casing) in late summer to early autumn to make jam, tea or a syrup that can be used as a decorative and tasty addition to champagne. Green leaves can be used as a spicy spinach. The flowers are high in viatmin C and the entire plant has numerous medicinal properties. Visit the website for more information.

Plants will die back to ground level in winter and may come back in spring warm climates but second year plants do not produce abundant crops in their second season so the plant is best treated as an annual. Plant culture should be compared to a tomato!
